Product Overview
About Golden Sella
Golden Sella is parboiled 1121 Basmati with a deeper, golden-yellow colour. It follows the same sella principle as white sella, but is processed and graded to keep its rich golden tone.
It is chosen where a visually rich, firm biryani grain is wanted: grains stay long, separate and golden-tinged after cooking, and hold up well in layered dishes and when rice is kept warm or reheated.
Indian Basmati is grown in the notified Basmati Geographical Indication (GI) region of northern India: Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, western Uttar Pradesh and parts of Jammu & Kashmir.

Grain & Cooking
How it looks and cooks
Before cooking
Golden yellow, extra long and slender.
After cooking
Long, separate grains with a warm golden tint.
- The paddy is soaked, heat-treated with steam or hot water, dried and then milled. Parboiling makes the grain harder, reducing breakage and improving cooking tolerance.
- Cooks firm, non-sticky and highly separate.
- Its aroma can seem a little milder than raw white Basmati because of the heat treatment, which is a general effect of parboiling.
Best for
Layered biryani, Catering, Rice kept warm or reheated, Hotels & restaurants, Export markets.
